The Hiking and Nature Meetup is an active and well organized hiking group out of the New York City area. We make an effort to be as inclusive as possible by offering hiking at all levels, from short relaxing hiking trips to 20 mile hiking challenges.
We also do rock scrambling, rock climbing, wilderness skills classes, weekend hiking trips across the northeast, and adventure travel trips all over the world. Plus, as a four-season hiking group, there's snowshoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and winter mountaineering.
Events are generally posted about two weeks in advance
Most trips are accessible via public transportation and we try to organize car pools when they are not.
These are not guided trips - these are social events
This is a social club of hikers, so members are responsible for their own safety.
You do not have to be an expert outdoors-person, but you should, at minimum, know roughly what your hiking level is (in terms of the mileage, elevation, and pace you can do) and what gear (clothing, water, etc) you need. Ideally everyone should be comfortable hiking alone just in case the need a rises.
If you do not have any hiking experience at all, please hike with a professional guide service a few times.

My fiancé and I started and manage a wine group on Long Island, we organize wine tasting parties and plan to do the same in New York City with this group. What better way to learn about a culture than to taste their wine and food? I am a guy I who thinks with his stomach. I also run a sports group NYMutliSport.com that is where I met Helen my fiancée.
I am planning to doing events with a venue where we will provide a several varieties of wine paired with food tastings. No this is not going to be a typical wine tasting where you sit down at a dinner while someone goes on and on about the wine you're drinking and how it works with the food you're eating. I enjoy those types of events but I find them to be a little tedious at times. What I'm hoping accomplish is to have events where there will be stations with food and wine with a knowledgeable person serving you a sample of both. You'll be free to walk around and mingle.

Welcome to New York City Tennis, the largest tennis Meetup group on Earth and the most active one in the greater New York City metropolitan area! We welcome everyone from advanced beginners to just plain advanced players — if you love the sport, you're in the right place, and whether you want to play sets, just hit around and have fun or work on your game, you'll find plenty of friendly people interested in exactly the same thing. So come join us to play tennis, make new friends, get some fresh air and exercise, and generally just have an awesome time!
All you need to bring is your racquet and whatever you'd like to eat or drink other than fountain water; we provide fresh tennis balls, player matching and sometimes even a little coaching. Please do be aware, though, that whenever the courts are crowded, which is much of the time, we stick to playing doubles in order to make sure everyone gets as much court time as possible. There are opportunities for singles, though, generally either early in the morning or later in the afternoon, or in the summer, sometimes in the middle of the day. And occasionally, when we aren't able to get enough courts, we have to take turns rotating on and off. Usually, though, it's all tennis and all fun all the time!
We'll also be including some non-tennis events throughout the year to give our tennis members a chance to mingle during bad weather and to meet other fun non-tennis players.

We have meetups every week for different ages. For example, in January 2012, we had over 30 different meetups scheduled, from book clubs (kids welcome) to meetups at local libraries and Whole Foods. February has over 25 events scheduled so far, including a group trip to the Bronx zoo and a special meetup for Mandarin speaking moms. We also have volunteer opportunities for moms who want to give back. Locations for Meetups range from midtown to harlem (e.g., West 60s up to West 120s). Most events are during the week, but we do occasionally have weekend or evening events.
Our email list serve is a great way to find out "new mom" or UWS information and to give away (or receive) the no longer needed baby gear taking up space in the apartment.
Please note, dues are $10/year. Dues must be paid when joining. However, you have three months to decide if you want to stay a member. If you decide to leave the group within the first three months, your dues are 100% refundable (less postage if you mail in your dues)

We are a photography group dedicated to learning the fine points of artistic figure photography and lighting techniques, and perfecting our skill. We do this by taking lots of pictures & practicing at numerous workshops.
This group welcomes: accomplished professionals, first timers, & all those in between. If you are serious about photography, regardless of your skill level, this group is probably for you.
PHOTO SHOOTS ARE CENTRAL TO OUR EXISTENCE, we take them very seriously. Setting up shoots with top models requires much planning, lots of work & cooperation from all of the participants. We know that other aspects of life sometimes interfere with our photography plans, but if you say you are attending, we'd like you to show up or at least cover your share of the cost.

Bklyn Pickup Soccer is a weekly coed soccer group that plays year-round. We play every sunday afternoon on turf. Everyone is welcome to attend, and games tend to play on an intermediate level. Our group has been in existence for 3 years now with great games every week.

Welcome to the NYC D&D Meetup Group!
Dungeons and Dragons is
the most popular tabletop role-playing game of all time. The game is played with about 6 players. One person takes the role of storyteller, AKA the Dungeon Master, and narrates the story in a medieval fantasy world filled with magic, monsters, romance, intrigue, and adventure. The rest of the players take on the roles of individual fictional characters and explore that world, often becoming heroes in the story. The story is like a completely interactive "choose your own adventure" book. Different shaped dice are used to determine the outcome of attempted actions.
Scheduling games of D&D is a little more complicated than just showing up for a game. There are three different ways people assemble to play D&D.

About "THE BEE COURSE: For Bee Lovers & BeeKeepers"
Our Free in-depth Winter Course, is underway.
Registration is currently for waitlist only. But we will do our best to seat you before the next lecture in the series and you can still catch up in time to start beekeeping this spring. If you are curious about bees and beekeeping, now is a great time to start The Bee Course.
The first sessions give you foundations in bee biology and behavior and will help you determine whether you'll be ready to keep bees on your own this Spring, would prefer to join a community team, or just want to learn and volunteer with us. In spring as weather permits, we progress to hands-on sessions in urban apiaries, exposing students to dozens of hives at various stages of growth. There is a lot of material on the web about beekeeping. Many different methods are covered in the Course, and our focus is on practices consistent with "Responsible Urban Beekeeping."
"The Bee Course" is comparable to a college course. It is offered free of charge as a matter of principle.
Members are also eligible to participate in the at-cost group purchase of gear and bees we organize each spring. We have a limited allocation of package bees and preference goes to students and active volunteers. Our bee delivery date is in mid-April. NYC Beekeeping is an all-volunteer group for beekeepers and beelovers.
We organize a free course in beekeeping, expert and peer mentoring, and community service & outreach activities throughout the year. Members volunteer with urban farms, community gardens, the NYC Parks Dept., schools and other organizations to foster a strong community of responsible urban beekeepers, to bring training & economic opportunity through beekeeping to underserved areas, to conserve and protect honeybees and other pollinators, and to contribute to the program and fundraising capacities of selected 501(c)(3) organizations.

This is a totally not-for-profit, non-commercial group. We don't charge fees for our activities. If we ever do collect money it is strictly to cover the cost of group expenses, such as renting camp sites.
I, Rob, took took over as head organizer in May of 2010, although I'd been organizing hikes for the group for about 2 years prior. It was once hoped that this would be a group with many organizers, each of who would organize an event occassionally. It turns out that not many members stepped forward...I'm not sure why and presently our leadership team consists of just five of us. If you are interested in organizing an activity, let me know. Better, join me on a hike so I can get to know you and we can discuss your ideas face-to-face.

Our regular meeting time is the fourth Wednesday from 7-9 PM. We have wonderful space - courtesy of Microsoft - in their office at 1290 Sixth Avenue - 6th floor. Picture ID is required by Security at the building entrance.
Security also requires that we provide a door list of everyone attending our meetings. Please RSVP with your full name (last name first, please) along with full names of any guests you may bring in the "Comment" box on the RSVP page of this website. We need to have your response at least 24 hours in advance so that we may prepare and print out the door list for Security.

Most trips take place to travel by bus or Train to (a) New Jersey state - Atlantic City and other locations, (b) Connecticut State (c) Other close state to New York and (d) some location in New York State too. These trip take place by Metro North Railroad and New York State Tourism Department offered many places in upstate. These trips are combined tickets for Rail + Bus which take you all day travel to show several places. Most trips are under $30.00.

(One way) than Guided Bus take over 100 miles to show different places from the railway station in upstate and drop you back to railway station in upstate to back to New York City. Guided bus trips are include in railway tickets.

Some trips offered by Long Island Railroad.
Some trips to New Jersey and Pennsylvania and other State.
One day Gateway trips offered by Metro north, you can buy those tickets in Internet from Metro north website When I put these events for the groups. Buy ticket in computer, its chip and you get your ticket in mail within 3-to 4 days.
(3) ONE DAY GATEWAY TRIP BY RENTAL CAR :
This new type of gateway trip and we travel by rental car for 1 to 3 days.
